Gattaca: Utopia or Dystopia?

The world that we live in today is full of diseases, discrimination, crimes, and warfare. Dystopia would be a good word to describe the environment in which we live in now. A dystopia is a place where the state of living is bad. On the other hand a utopia is an ideal perfect place. In the movie Gattaca directed by Andrew Niccol, the world that is portrayed shows us a utopian way of life with electric powered cars and solar energy. I believe that the society shown to us in the movie is actually a dystopia and an unsuccessful attempt at a utopia.

Question: I'm not done with my introduction but I feel like its weak and I can make it better. How can I make it better?

  1. Problem:
    1) So far you only have one evidence: Enviromentally friendly technologies makes Gattaca a utopia. You never once mentioned that they were developed by higher intelligent humans that were genetically engineered.

    2) You lack more evidence to prove that Gattaca is a utopia. Think about it, is a world with only environmental-friendly technology enough for you to call it a utopia? What are some other great things about Gattaca that makes is such a heavenly place? Think about how engineered humans have terminated illnesses, and further advanced science.

    Overview:
What would make your introduction (thesis) stronger is that you incorporate more evidences in how genetically engineered humans built an ideal place; a utopia. And don't forget to use George J. Annas' "The Man On The Moon" in your essay.
